I’ve often said that CP is not a confessional. It’s not a gossip site either.
For all of the perks involved in being a celebrity (and they are CONSIDERABLE), there is a savage downside to being famous. Frankly, I think personalities in the public eye have enough to contend with without having people spread rumours and other kinds of damaging and hurtful garbage about them.
I can’t control other peoples’ behaviour. But I have absolutely no interest in being a party to any of that.
But this is a little different…
The lady in question is no longer with us. The gentleman that was involved with her is writing about their relationship in an autobiography. So I imagine he will be respectful in regards to her.
This really knocked me for a loop, though.
Everyone that’s close to me is completely aware of my adoration for old HOLLYWOOD. It may very well have been an illusion. But all of that classic glamour has a certain kind of romantic quality that attracts me like wildfire.
I am big fans of both of these artists. But I really had no idea about this – and it does come as a genuine surprise to me.
But such is life. You just never know….
ROBERT WAGNER’S marriage to NATALIE WOOD was public knowledge.
His love affair with BARBARA STANWYCK was a secret. Until now.
In his new memoir PIECES OF MY HEART he talks openly about his four year romance with the star of such films as THE LADY EVE, BALL OF FIRE and DOUBLE INDEMNITY.
They met on the set of the 1953 version of TITANIC. He was 22. She was 45 and divorced from actor ROBERT TAYLOR.
The press knew nothing about their relationship and neither did most of HOLLYWOOD.
“I would say she gave me self esteem,” he wrote.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last. They were each too busy with their own careers and the age difference made things difficult. She eventually broke it off.
“I would always have been MR. STANWYCK and we both knew it,” ROBERT WAGNER stated.
