JIMMY KIMMEL SHOW RISES IN POPULARITY
I’ve always had a soft spot for JIMMY KIMMEL. I see his show very rarely. But I think he’s really cute (yeah, sue me…) and he makes me laugh like hell.
Sexiest thing in the entire world is a man who can make me laugh. (Are y’all writing this down…?)
I fervently wish I had a JIMMY KIMMEL interview available for you. But Mr. Kimmel actually declined to be interviewed for this story.
(Hmmmm…)
Instead, LYNETTE RICE of EW basically discusses the developments in late night television and the direction the networks are supposedly going in. It would appear that JIMMY’S show is gaining significantly in popularity and ratings. (Even prestige.)
But ABC is apparently not really treating him (at this point) like the potential star that he is.
One interesting quote from DON RICKLES on JIMMY, though: “He’s like a Hershey bar. He’s a warm, sweet guy who gives you every opportunity to enjoy yourself when you talk to him.”
That’s lovely…

Really…?
COOL.
Good to know, mal.
Thank you so much for your visit. You’re welcome to stop by any time….

He’s great, and I love his show. He was really good at the last AMAs too, I think. Was he host last year, or the year before? I forget.

I didn’t know that you guys got JIMMY’S show in SA.
Well, hell…
I didn’t have any idea. Any other type of TV show makes sense to me. But I always think that talk shows (specifically) kind of lose their relevance or uniqueness when they’re exported. They’re so intrinsically AMERICAN that I wonder if people from Europe, SA, Australia etc. really get them?
I mean, we don’t get foreign talk shows up here. That I’m aware of anyway. I doubt we’d be able to get a complete grasp on any of that. Cultures do vary. Even when there’s no language barrier…
Uh…I THINK JIMMY just hosted the last AMAs, Nicky – and now he’s going to host again next time.
Didn’t know that you liked JIMMY. It’s awesome that you do.

Well, when you take a country like America, there is no such thing as cultural barriers because there is almost nothing about the country that isn’t shown on TV, put in movies, talked about, written about, it’s a global commodity, so we get almost everything you guys get even if you get nothing we get.
The American culture has spread all over the world, through Westernisation, globalisation etc that it no longer is contained within the boundaries of the USA. I don’t think I am making any sense here, lol. Okay, everyone around the world wants a little piece of America and we get it through watching your shows, mostly. The American culture, unfortunately, no longer belongs to only Americans.

Hey, it’s early here, sweetie….
Ha ha.
You know I DID NOT mean to offend, Nicky. That’s EXACTLY why I said we don’t get any talk shows from other countries (even English speaking) and that I doubt that we would really get the in jokes and just the general way that they express themselves.
For example, the Brits and the Americans BOTH speak English. But the cultures are very different. Not like night and day. But still…
I’m sure there are TONS of smart savvy South African people that are hip as hell and know endless amounts about globalization and American culture per se and blah blah blah.
I was just talking about the subtle differences that there are (AND ALWAYS WILL BE) and I was making a general - innocent – comment about these particular ways of living as opposed to our stuff over here.
Good God, honey. Don’t get mad.
You know I love you….

I’m not mad at all! And if I am, its because I don’t think I said what I am trying to say properly!
I get what you are saying though, and I agree with it, promise!

I’m SO happy.
That saves me an e-mail where I try to pull endless rabbits out of hats with one hand while attempting to pull on my CATWOMAN costume with the other.
That’s a load off my mind, Nicky. You’re such a dear friend that I would NEVER want you to be upset with me.
Besides, fighting crime is such a drag…

Uh oh…
Kimmel really annoys me, to be honest. I may not have given his show a fair shake, but between ads and appearances here and there, and including the one episode I saw of The Man Show he used to do with Adam Carolla, I just have never found the guy funny.
I think I can appreciate that he’s at least really not obnoxious in proclaiming that he’s the next great comedic talent.

Ha ha ha. Uh…Tell me what you really think, Danny.
Yeah, that bit about The Man Show with Adam Carrolla I heard about A LONG TIME after the fact. It just made me shudder because I had read that it was a horribly sexist and disgusting bunch of garbage.
I have nothing against Adam Carrolla per se. He might be a lovely person away from the spotlight. But his public persona is that of a fairly crude individual and his humour is not really to my taste.
I have NEVER seen JIMMY be sexist, ignorant or ungentlemanly to any female guest. EVER. Flirtatious, yeah. But that’s no crime. Unless it gets really heavy handed and ridiculous and then it become tiresome. At the very least.
I don’t watch the show much. But I do like it and I find JIMMY genuinely funny.
But that’s only my view, Danny. My opinion’s not such a big deal. It’s not gonna carry any actual weight in the general scheme of things.
