STARS THAT PLAYED STRIPPERS

11_a8

Just because it’s the holiday season doesn’t mean that we have to be intensely serious and deeply introspective all the time.

Does it…?

So in that particular spirit of adventure and good fun, I’ve decided to post a new slideshow from our precious friends at EW.

It’s all about actors who have portrayed strippers. Some of the films and TV shows that they appeared in don’t exactly come up to scratch. But all of these performances are eventful, risky and interesting.

In a variety of ways.

Here are the best in my estimation:

NATALIE WOOD (GYPSY ROSE LEE) – GYPSY (1962)

DEMI MOORE (ERIN GRANT) – STRIPTEASE

SALMA HAYEK (SANTANICO PANDEMONIUM) – FROM DUSK TILL DAWN

LAURA LEIGHTON (SYDNEY ANDREWS) – MELROSE PLACE

CHRISTOPHER ATKINS (RICKY “THE ROCKET” MONROE) – A NIGHT IN HEAVEN

DANNY DE VITO (ROY) – FRIENDS

DIANE LANE (LORRY DANE) – THE BIG TOWN

  1. i loved that male strippers got a bit of play and i loved the animated entry (which i would have liked reading about more if she wasn’t voiced by pam anderson) too. that was a bit in the ‘i liked’ department.

    ‘oh my god/ he’s insane’ . :)

  2. Hey, one thing I really love about EW’S lists is that they are most definitely NOT sexist.

When they’ve discussed prostitutes or strippers (or anything else resembling those occupations), the guys are mentioned right along with the women. Good for them.

    I dig EW. I think they’re great…

Aw, glim. Don’t diss Pam Anderson. She’s my girl.

We were both born in the same area and we grew up only miles apart. She’s done a lot of very fine things in terms of animal rights activism.

Plus she’s blonde and voluptuous. I HAVE to defend the other light haired sexpots. We have to stick together, you know..,?

    *raises eyebrow*

  3. Aw, glim. Don’t diss Pam Anderson. She’s my girl.

you don’t want me to diss her/because you want me to marry her for money. got it. ;)

really m. i’m gonna take some time to explain/while keeping you up to date.

seeing the picture of the animation frame (or whatever it is/no i don’t know) pam was too easy/obvious a choice. come on this voicing there had to be some room to breath/move her in the choice department. one two three four…and now the garden is choked with leaves.

but i’m the one…the one that felt vicky cb would have been much more interesting if rebecca and scarlett had switched characters.

and i also feel that all these discussions about who is gonna win the oscar would be over and far out and gone..there’d be no one left. if javier bardem would have tried the suave guy/don juan thing and pulled it off while keeping his ‘no country’ hairstyle. not even you fashion maven can deny that. ;)

  4. glim, I adore Pam. She is awesomeness personified.

But considering she married (oh Christ I can’t believe this…), Tommy Lee, Kid Rock and the guy who made the sex tape with Paris Hilton (*vomits endlessly*), I think you’d be a VAST improvement, darling.

How is it possible that such an intelligent woman (who is desired by millions of men world wide) can have such appalling taste???

    I have no clue…

Have to tell you this, sweetie.

I saw VCB (for the sixth time – yeah, I know…) on Christmas Eve. It had been gone for a while. They only brought it back for a few days. I really don’t know why. But I’ll be seeing it again when it hits the final frontier: that beautiful 1930s discount theatre in one of the gorgeous areas of town. That’s the very last place films play in town before they’re released on DVD.

Like I told you, Cristina and I are practically twins. So it definitely spoke to me.

    As for the other…

A lot of people do want to cast Scarlett as a femme fatale, a sexpot or a worldly woman. Given her impressive physicality, that’s understandable. But anyone who knows anything about this girl’s career should be aware that she has played many other types of characters (LOST IN TRANSLATION, THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL, A GOOD WOMAN, SCOOP).

So I’ll give you that. The movie might have been interesting if Scarlett had played Vicki and Rebecca had been given the Cristina role.

But I do VASTLY prefer the take that WOODY brought. Most likely because not only is Cristina like me but Scarlett and I have a ton in common: both blonde, green eyed, voluptuous, smoky voiced etc.

    Hah hah. Poor Javier.

He’ll never live down that NO COUNTRY haircut. It’s particularly deadly because he won the OSCAR for that and now no one will likely ever forget his connection with that character.

That Prince Valiant hairstyle is killer…and NOT in a good way. The most gorgeous man alive (and Javier is hotter than hell) would have difficulty getting women with that hair.

But considering the title of this thread…I would have dearly LOVED to see Juan Antonio in VCB strip (with his regular hair, OF COURSE).

Never got to see that. What a shame.

But imagination is a really powerful thing. Put it that way….

  5. ms. m. i’ve got you covered. :)

  6. Oh my holy Lord…………………………….

glim, that man (JAVIER) has a body like a work of art. Just unbelievable.

Is it hot in here? Or is it simply me…?

Thanks kindly, glim. That was a lovely surprise.

This is why I adore you, honey. You’re always sending me stuff.

But nothing was ever this good….
