THE 10 BEST OSCAR DRESSES
IN STYLE has a superb slideshow devoted to the 10 best OSCAR dresses.
Here are my three favourites:
DIANE LANE (in OSCAR DE LA RENTA)
MARION COTILLARD (JEAN PAUL GAULTIER)
RENEE ZELLWEGER (CAROLINA HERRERA)

no and hell no the best oscar dress was the am fex card dress.
all the proper lists have forgotten the classics.
and i only spelled it as classics.
any way your sub novice aka me…well this stuff mostly tends to blend in to me/especially with quick looks/my very untrained eye.
hell yeah…
so i’ll take your two picks and will sub kate hudson’s dress for renee’s. and i guess that would be my three of their 10.
i loved for them to attempt a top 10 guy list.
*ha ha ha*
love to see them research that. love to see’em going crazy to try to explain the differences. ha ha….
m. have any photos of guys *not* wearing something black tux like/please…
give me three photos or i’m gonna use three bullets…

I’m glad you love the Am Ex dress.
Let’s just say that it’s a bit avant garde for my particular taste, darlin.
But let me get one thing straight while I’m here, glimster…
Since this is my site (a fact that you and I are well aware of), I only showcase or highlight things or individuals that I believe are worthwhile. That’s why not every single gallery or slideshow on record doesn’t end up here.
That IN STYLE article discusses what they consider to be the TOP 10 OSCAR DRESSES ever. If I hadn’t been in mild agreement with at least three of their choices, it never would’ve made it to the site.
But the three gowns that I picked certainly would never make my own TOP 10 of all time. It’s just that something has to go up every single day and you have to be pragmatic about it.
That’s it. That’s all.
KATE’S dress is nice. But I personally find it a bit bland. Plus blondes (particularly of the warm sunny variety – as opposed to the cool ash ones) always have to be careful when they’re wearing tones that are similar to their own hair colour – beiges, golds, yellows.
They run big risks. They can either look like they’re disappearing into the shadows or like they’re walking around in a sea of pee. Neither is particularly flattering.
It’s something that I have to take into consideration when I buy clothes. ALL THE TIME. I don’t mind beige. It’s generally a bit boring for me. I love gold and loathe yellow.
It’s just as well. Yellow is a colour that most blondes never look good in.
As for the guys…
Well, we’ve been over this before, honey. There is not a lot of lee way for men. If they push it too hard and try to make a statement, they usually end up looking ridiculous. Men have to wear pants.
(Or they should. Unless they want to get arrested. Now that would be a statement. Hee hee.)
Women can wear anything. Guys have very limited options.
I don’t have any pics on hand, glim. Can’t think of any that I can direct you to at the moment either.
Personally, I think that classic looks for men (and women) are the best thing going. Gorgeous, tasteful, mesmerizingly sexy, glamorous…
Those powder blue tuxes from the 70s better not make a comeback.

Well, not really…
Hah hah.
I have to deal with all of this on a consistent basis, glim. If you were a blonde woman, you’d be well aware of that too.
