LAUREN BACALL TO RECEIVE HONORARY OSCAR
I think LAUREN BACALL is a goddess.
Not only is she one of the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, she has that great voice (mine is similar…) and an elegance that’s so extravagant it’s intimidating.
Seems a wicked shame that when she finally is awarded an OSCAR (an accolade that is long overdue – whether it’s actually won or honorary) the ACADEMY decides that this portion will no longer be part of the televised ceremony.
LAUREN BACALL is finally getting her OSCAR.
It’s about time…
The Board of Governors of the ACADEMY OF MOTION PICTURE ARTS & SCIENCES announced Thursday that she will finally receive an honorary OSCAR .
Ms. Bacall made her screen debut with HUMPHREY BOGART (who she later married) in TO HAVE & HAVE NOT in 1944. The legendary star was only nominated once – as SUPPORTING ACTRESS for THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES in 1996. She has appeared in more than 30 films, including such notable noirs as THE BIG SLEEP and KEY LARGO.
Cinematographer GORDON WILLIS will also be getting an honorary award. He is a two time ACADEMY AWARD nominee for ZELIG and THE GODFATHER PART III.
Mr. Willis shot all three GODFATHER movies as well as many of WOODY ALLEN’S best films: MANHATTAN, INTERIORS, ANNIE HALL and STARDUST MEMORIES.
The honorary awards will be presented at the ACADEMY’S inaugural Governors Awards gala event on NOVEMBER 14 in Hollywood.
